Abstract

In early church history, music was an integral part of Christian worship services. Singing or vocals as the main instrument in singing notes, rhythms and melodies is a pratical thing for the congregation to express gratitude and praise to God in worship. The aerly congregation used the songs from the book of Pslams, which have a worship dimension of the Old Testament, as a liturgical part of the fellowship. As time goes by, church music continues to transform its form. From the medieval era to the Reformation, church music increasingly plays a role in worship, especially in the modern era, where church music has been modified in various ways. Therefore, this article will review church music theologically and its relevance for the spiritually of God’s People. The qualitative-descriptive method is used as the basis for this research, with a theological-reflective approach. Data sources from literature in the from of book, jouarnals, and internet media will be elaborated carefully to present actual and constructive information. In this way, the teological study of church music and its relevance to the spiritually of the congregation can be examined more deeply, thus providing an objective understanding.
