PERAN MUSIK KRISTEN KONTEMPORER DALAM PENGEMBANGAN PELAYANAN IBADAH ONLINE DI GEREJA JEMAAT KRISTEN INDONESIA PURI MARINA SEMARANG

Abstract

The Indonesian Christian Church (Gereja Jemaat Kristen Indonesia) Puri Marina Semarang challenges in conducting online worship, particularly in fostering a spiritual atmosphere and enhancing congregational engagement. This study examines the forms of contemporary Christian music used in online worship and its role in supporting worship participation. A qualitative descriptive method was employed using interviews, observations, and documentation involving the senior pastor, church elders, music team, multimedia team, and congregation. Data were analyzed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that contemporary Christian music significantly creates a meaningful worship atmosphere and increases congregational engagement. Music is presented through a modern full-band ensemble with communicative arrangements led by the worship leader. Audio quality, teamwork, and effective worship leadership strengthen the congregation’s spiritual experience. Therefore, contemporary Christian music functions as an aesthetic, liturgical, theological, social, and pastoral medium that enhances the quality of online worship and sustains the congregation’s spiritual life
